Welcome! We’re so glad you found us. We’re new, as you can see, but kicking things off with a bang here at United For Adoption. In the near future, we’ll be building this blog and helping you understand who we are, what we’re doing, and why we love adoption.

In the meantime, how would you like to curl up on the sofa with a good movie this holiday season? Even better, how would you like to get the movie for free?

We’re giving away five copies of Disney’s “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” Movies like this are a great tool for opening a discussion about adoption. The giveaway starts today and ends at midnight on 11/27/12. Winners will be announced 11/28/12, and must respond by 12/2/12 with their addresses. DVD prizes will be shipped 12/4/12, straight from Disney.

Disney’s “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” one of the year’s most uplifting and enchanting family films, springs up on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD, High Definition Digital and On-Demand platforms on December 4, 2012. It’s the perfect, must-own family-film for audiences of all ages to enjoy and snuggle up to this coming holiday season.

From Academy Award-nominated writer/director Peter Hedges, and starring Golden Globe® winner Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Oscar® winner Dianne Wiest and CJ Adams as Timothy Green, comes this highly imaginative story (written by Ahmet Zappa) about a happily married couple who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. Then one stormy night young Timothy shows up on their doorstep. Soon they and the small town in which they live learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

I let others know how important it is for parents to have “maternity” leave to bond with their adopted child. This is essential through all age groups.

Ooh, how exciting – I live overseas so I haven’t been able to see this movie yet! We love talking about adoption with anyone that will listen and try to get rid of the myths and stereotypes surrounding it.

Our daughter is adopted and we are hoping to adopt again. Every day this month I am putting up quotes about adoption on Facebook. I am very open about our story and answer questions as much as I can to help educate others. I am working with a wonderful group of women to make an educational video about adoption.

I plan visits with my sons’ birth parents and read them their life book story. I also tell them everyday that their birth mom’s love them and give extra kisses just for them. Feeling Blessed as we were just placed with our second son after a 3 years of “finding”. (hoping to update my blog soon with our story)

I talk about Adoption with my co-workers, relatives, church and friends every chance I get. Letting them know that there are so many children that needs a GOOD home. I am in the process of adopting the foster child that is currently in my home now and hoping to adopt another one as well. I have gotten a few to become foster parents and one couple is now in the process of adopting their foster child.

To share the message of adoption, I am always open and willing to share the story of my daughter’s adoption via foster care. I also talk about how my oldest 2 siblings were adopted into my family as babies. What I find most fulfilling is to tell new adoptive couples about what it is like for adopted kids and how important it is to have many connections and facts about their biological roots!
